This disease is caused by viruses that normally enter the body through the bite of a tick. However, you can get and at the use of unpasteurized cow’s, goat’s or sheep’s milk. In some countries, including the countries of Central Europe, a lot of ticks – carriers of the infection. For many people, this infectious disease is asymptomatic. Such people in the future retain immunity to the disease. Generally, people 30-40 years were more likely TBE sick. Children have an infection easier. Than a person is older, the disease occurs more difficult – sometimes paralysis and mental disorders are possible.

Typically, the virus meningoencephalitis is ingested by the bite of ticks (Latin ixodes ricinus). These mites live in sunny places wooded area of grasses and low shrubs. For the survival of the virus, it is necessary that the air and the soil was wet, and the temperature for 150 days did not fall below +10°C. Usually mites dig into the skin of the head, hands, ears, feet and armpits. Depending on the extent of tick encephalitis infections can be single or acquire epidemic.
Patients, which are infected with tick-borne encephalitis, require hospitalization and compliance with bed rest for at least 10 days. Treatment is not aimed at eliminating the causes, and to alleviate the symptoms of the disease.
With increasing temperature, vomiting, headache, pain in the lower back or legs, as well as the rigidity of the neck you should see a doctor.
The doctor will examine the patient, perform the necessary research to determine the pathogens in the body, and the resulting antibodies.
Course of the disease
There are two stages of meningoencephalitis: spring and summer. At the first stage, body temperature increases, headaches and pain in the extremities, nausea and vomiting, inflammation begins. On this disease for 2/3 of the patients over, many do not even realize what had been ill with the disease. Other patients in 1-20 days, when the initial symptoms are manifested the second stage of the disease, more severe. It is characterized by high fever, tremors, paralysis, seizures, impaired consciousness and psyche. The course of the disease depends on the location of virus on the severity of the disease and the immunity of the infected person.
Is it a dangerous disease?
Encephalitis usually clears up by itself. However, full recovery can take a long time. The paralysis gradually disappears; some time headaches may be repeated. Only in rare cases, patients die.
If you are going to spend a holiday in nature, find out if these places are occupied by mites. If necessary, get vaccinated.
Avoid deciduous forests, places, covered with tall grass and bushes. Attached ticks should be removed immediately. With suspected encephalitis, you should carry out a medical examination and vaccinating.
