What is tick-borne encephalitis?

Tick-borne encephalitis is an infectious disease of the brain. Simultaneously lining of the brain can be defeated - meningoencephalitis. This disease is caused by viruses that normally enter the body through the bite of a tick. However, you can get and at the use of unpasteurized cow's, goat's or sheep's milk. In some countries, including the countries of Central Europe, a lot of ticks - carriers of the infection. For many people, this infectious disease is asymptomatic. Causes of tick-borne encephalitis

Typically, the virus meningoencephalitis is ingested by the bite of ticks (Latin ixodes ricinus). These mites live in sunny places wooded area of grasses and low shrubs. For the survival of the virus, it is necessary that the air and the soil was wet, and the temperature for 150 days did not fall below +10°C. Is tick-borne encephalitis a dangerous disease?

Encephalitis usually clears up by itself. However, full recovery can take a long time. The paralysis gradually disappears; some time headaches may be repeated. Only in rare cases, patients die.

Avoid deciduous forests, places, covered with tall grass and bushes. Attached ticks should be removed immediately. With suspected encephalitis, you should carry out a medical examination and vaccinating.
