Scabies

Scabies is a parasitic infectious disease, that is characterized by severe itching, redness, swelling, blisters, the presence of burrows. The disease is transmitted by Sarcoptes scabiei. The female parasite burrows into the horny layer of the epidermis, which breaks the itch move. In itch moves mites lay eggs passages from which larvae hatch after 3-5 days, and from them – itch mites. The new generation of mites appears for about two months. Itch moves can be found in the wrist and tarsus, in the interdigital folds of the arms and legs, buttocks, inner thighs and genitals, sometimes in the abdomen. Usually combing areas are more visible than the itch moves.

Symptoms

  • Severe itching.
  • Redness of the skin.
  • Rash with blisters.
  • Narrow-like punctures, moves in the skin about 1 cm long.

Causes

The disease is caused by the female Sarcoptes scabiei, reaching approximately 0.5 mm. Infection occurs through direct contact, such as sexual intercourse or directly touching the patient with scabies. However, you can become infected and otherwise, for example, through contaminated bedding, clothing and various things. Often slovenly people are infected with low hygienic culture: rarely wash and change bed.

Treatment

In the treatment of scabies it is necessary to treat and the patient’s partner and his family, otherwise, they later re-infect each other. Widespread and proven method of treatment – thorough hygiene of the body, massaging certain medications containing sulfur in all the skin of the body (excluding the head). Medication for some time is left, then washed off. Treatment is usually successful, but if after the first procedure mites do not disappear, it is repeated.

Patients with scabies must adhere strictly to the rules of personal hygiene. The patient must be isolated from other family members, it is important to disinfect the room, bedding, things, boil and ironed linen.

If you suspect a scabies, you should immediately contact a doctor. Symptoms of scabies: severe itching in the interdigital area of the arms and legs, hands or feet. Also, the whole body or genital area is itched. Another symptom of itch – narrow, slightly concave passages in the skin, reaching 1 cm in length, one end of which is hermetically closed. Scabies can be suspected if other family members feel like itching. But remember that you can not scratch birthmarks or seal-like melanoma – it can be very dangerous.

The doctor, after examining the entire body, prescribes medication. The patient rubs (or sprays) medications throughout the body.

Course of the disease

When there is scabies, skin quickly reddens, covered bubbles, and becomes to itch. After treatment, the symptoms of scabies are rapidly disappearing, sometimes the skin is itching another week.

Scabies is not dangerous. However, due to severe itching – very unpleasant. In addition, skin inflammation may appear, there will be other infections. Very often in itch moves some fungi breed, its treatment is long and difficult.

Prevention

With regular personal hygiene probability of infection is greatly reduced.

To get scabies is not a shame, but it is ashamed to infect other people. If you suspect a scabies, immediately contact a doctor and until recovery, avoid sexual intercourse or other intimate relationships.
