What is candidiasis?

Candidiasis is mycosis (fungus). Fungal disease (mycoses) is contagious disease of the skin, hair and nails. They are superficial and deep. The fungi-causing fungal diseases include yeasts, dermatophytes and saprophytic mold.

Symptoms of candidiasis

  • Whitish coating on the mucous membranes of the mouth, vagina and anus - a symptom of candidiasis.
  • If the coating penetrates into the blood, fever can begin, serious complications arise.

Causes of candidiasis

Superficial skin infections are caused by dermatophytes. People contract the disease from an infected person or through things (hats, shoes, gloves, combs), and outdoor (public baths, swimming pools). All dermatophytosis affect the scalp, skin, hands and nails. Under certain conditions (due to diabetes mellitus, long-term antibiotic treatment of skin and mucous membranes) fungal disease of the skin occurs. They are caused by yeast fungi. Deep fungal disease affects people of the tropical and subtropical zones. Europeans with weakened immune system are ill with the disease in recent years. In nature, the most common fungi live on plants, fruits, berries, vegetables, most often - whitish yeasts. It causes candidiasis.

The appearance of plaque in the milky whitish yeast fungi infection is one of the symptoms of candidiasis. Most often, babies and small children sick with the illness. The disease affects only a soft lining, so candidiasis can be identified by whitish coating on the affected mucosa. All the mucous membranes of the body can be affected, but often the mucous membrane of the mouth, vagina, or skin and mucous around the anus. Occasionally pathogens Candida can get into the blood and from where they get all the vital organs. The patient's body temperature rises sharply, the muscles begin to ache, life-threatening condition is manifested, for example, shock, etc.

Treatment of candidiasis

Candidiasis

Infection with whitish yeast fungi can only be determined by appearance of the affected mucosa. If only the mucous membrane of the mouth is affected, it is recommended infusion, which includes anti-fungal medicine - nystatin. If the vaginal mucosa is affected, it is recommended to use nystatin vaginal suppositories. If yeasts are resistant to nystatin, doctors prescribe other drugs.

In the case of children's diapers candidiasis anus often occurs. In this case, it is important to frequently change diapers: a warm and moist environment promotes the proliferation of yeast fungi. Babies candidiasis can be treated with nystatin and regular care for their skin.

Despite the fact that candidiasis is not a serious illness (unless extended), access to a doctor should be timely. Candidiasis in adults is usually a symptom of serious underlying disease.

Doctor may prescribe medications and perform research to determine the underlying disease, which has created a favorable environment for candidiasis.

Course of the disease

The occurrence of candidiasis in young children is not dangerous, but the pain and itching of the mucous membranes may appear. If the mucous membrane of the mouth of the child was struck, the appetite may disappear. In adults, the course of the infection depends on the underlying disease.

It is important not only to use drugs, but also to adhere to personal hygiene: otherwise the likelihood of re-infection increases.

Probably not many people know that the consequences are usually benign herpes simplex can be very heavy (herpetic eye disease, liver or brain). This is especially true of those who have weakened immune system. People suffering from cancer and other infectious diseases have high probability of occurrence of such complications.
